AI literacy

AI literacy

Do you know what AI is capable of?

The critical evaluation, understanding, and use of AI require knowledge and skills referred to as AI literacy (e.g. Long & Magerko, 2020). In recent years, various instruments have been developed to assess AI literacy, evaluating abilities related to, among other things, identifying, using, and applying AI.

During the spring, AIdemoc will validate two instruments developed in Germany for the Finnish context: SNAIL (Laupichler et al., 2023) and MAILS (Carolus et al., 2023). In the first phase of the validation, we will collect data through a pilot study to develop the final instrument.

Once the validation is complete, the AI literacy instrument will provide important information about Finns’ competence and attitudes toward AI. The instrument can also be used in connection with other studies.
